A plugin is almost the same as a application but you can turn plugins on and off through the Recovery Menu. To put a plugin into your PSP, make a new folder called 'seplugins' and inside that make a text document and name it game and you should be ready to put plugins for games on your PSP.

Hey I'm new to the PSP which means I'm new to this custom firmwear or whatever. Been looking it up just whant to know if there is any disadvantages of manipulating your PSP and how does it affect some of the main funtions like the running UMDs and internet browsing?

the custom firmwares released do EVERYTHING the official firmwares do, but with the ability to run us-signed code. This means an application that anyone makes (or game made retail, but we cant talk of that here) can be played without sony signing to digitaly.

Sometimes with homebrew applications your PSP may just shut down for no reason and you can brick your PSP so badly you won't be able to get it up and running again, they're probaly the disadvantages.
